My dad just recently told me she has no life insurance, etc. Would she still be able to get it?

You probably can’t get it into force in the next couple of days, but if you had a few weeks, and money was no object, sure.
Anyone would be happy to sell you a $100,000 life insurance policy on your mom, for $125,000.
But if you’re looking to pay in less money than you get out, it’s too late.

    Sorry no.
The only thing you might be able to get is one of the policies that pays off your credit card (“life event”) policy for your dad if he has any credit card debts. These are usually a ripoff, but worth checking the credit card statements to see if any are being offered.
If she has any loans outstanding (such as car loan or credit card) you may want to see if there was a death protection clause on those that might pay off her bills after she passes.
    Sorry for your loss.

Definitely not. Any pre-existing condition that would shorten a person’s life is a risk to life insurance agencies. Therefore, most insurance agencies will not accept an application for someone who is terminally ill.
Sorry to hear about your mother.

Most life insurance policies have a period between when you get the insurance and when it actually starts. Most times, it’s a couple of months. And that’s for a healthy person. No life insurance company will sign for someone who is terminally ill and will die in a couple of days. Sorry.

well the chances of it happening are slim to none because she needs to list preexisting conditions and well she is terminally ill so why would a insurance company pay out if they know she is going to die. i am sorry that your mom is ill and i hope she can pull through.

No your mom cannot get life insurance now. She waited too long and is terminally ill. This is a very sad situation. I’m sorry but your parents should have considered life insurance before she became terminally ill.

  7. Common Sense says:

Ummm, no. I’m sorry but no insurance company will write a policy on someone terminally ill.

  8. Ryan M says:

Not a chance. ALL policies require a waiting period before the policy comes into effect. Most are around 6 months.

  9. Doctor Deth says:

why hasn’t Dad had life insurance on her thru his job’s benefits? – it would have been very inexpensive

  10. Piglet says:

No, an insurance company won’t insure you if you’re about to die.

    Sorry. & No.

It is so unfortunate that so many people wait to this point THEN decide that it is time to act, when it is too late.
